METHODS

1.   Lay out the cloth squares on a table and using a sponge applicator I stained each square twice with an equal amount of stain.  I then wrote the name of the stain on each square.
2.   I left each stained square to dry for 24 hours.
3.   I added 7.5 ml (1/2 Tblsp) of the synthetic detergent to 1 litre of warm water then added the stained squares to the OJ mixer and mixed for 3 minutes, followed by a 2 minute soak and then another 3 minute mixing.  The cloths and contai9ner were then rinsed with cold water and the cloths were mixed in a one litre cold rinse for 3 minutes.
4.   After the washed the cloths were squeezed by hand and laid our on a flat cloth to dry.
5.   This procedure was repeated for the stained cloths with the saponin mixture and then the soap mixture and then the plain water.
6. When dry, the cloths squares were laid out and rated for how clean they were based on the unwashed squares scored as 5 and the unwashed original cloth scored as a 1.  The rating scale is described below and pictures were taken of all the results.

 Rating Scale

5 = fully stained

4 = mostly still stained

3 = half cleaned

2 = mostly the stain has been cleaned

1 = completely clean (the same as the starting cloth)
