Error Analysis

  1. Some methods of filtration did not work, resulting in either oil absorption in the filter or too much fine cake passing into the filtrate.
  2. The oil extracted by ethanol was more difficult to separate than the others, resulting in loss of oil mass.
  3. Solvent evaporation was difficult, because the temperature of the solvent had to be reached and maintained
  4. During the optical density procedure, the Jatropha ethanol sample foamed in the pipette, an indication of impurities, other substances, within the sample.
