Experiment # 1: Light Filters
- First you must switch on the light source (flashlight).
- Next, place a filter in front of the flashlight. Allow the light to fall on a white surface.
- Note the colour of the light on the surface.
- Experiment with other filters and combination of filters.
Experiment # 2: Diffraction
- First switch on the light source.
- Place the diffraction gradient film in front of the flashlight, at an angle so that the minute slits allow the white light to spread into a colour spectrum.
- We can view the spectrum by looking at the light source through the diffraction film.
Experiment #3: Reflection of Light
- Turn on the light source.
- Place a mirror in front of the light source so that the light falls on the mirror at an angle.
- Let the light fall on a black surface on the opposite side of the angle of the light source.
- Measure the angle of the reflected light.
Experiment #4: Refraction of Light
- Turn on the light source. Place a triangular prism in front of the light source.
- Note how the ray of light bends as it passes through the prism. Let the light fall on a black surface.
- Experiment with other convex and concave lenses.
- Note the findings.
