According to the results of my survey, shrimp, canned tuna and salmon were the most commonly eaten seafood. If compared to the standards in the table above, there is no serious risk because the concentrations are fairly low.

                                                   Shrimp—0.050 ppm

                                       Canned Tuna- 0.118 ppm

                                       Fresh Salmon– 0.014 ppm

Part B: Water

According to the results of my survey, bottled water is preferred over tap water.

A water quality test by the Canadian Bottled Water Association illustrated that the mercury concentrations in all their represented bottled water had met the safety guidelines of 0.001 mg/L.

A water quality test in the Peel region of Ontario of the drinking tap water indicated that   the mercury concentration in the water is 0.0001 mg/L. In the Halton region, the mercury concentrations of drinking tap water is also 0.0001 mg/L.

There is no risks of mercury poisoning in the water that we drink.

The most popular beverages are Coca-Cola Classic, Minute Maid Juice Boxes and chocolate milk. However, when compared to the standards, there is no serious risk of mercury poisoning due to the low concentrations of mercury in the products.

According to the survey, the three most popular high fructose corn syrup products that are most eaten are yogurt, Heinz tomato ketchup and Quaker Oatmeal-to-go bars. Although the concentrations are higher than the beverages, they do not significantly contribute to the overall mercury levels in the human body. Therefore there is no serious risk. However, it is important to take note that Quaker Oatmeal-to-go bars and Heinz BBQ sauce are two of the most highest mercury levels of the products rich in HFCS according to the tests by the FDA.
