Designing an electrical turbine generator has created several areas for future research that should be explored. First, would the sea level of the current determine its speed strength (i.e. would the height that the motor is placed at in comparison to the water affect the speed and strength of the current?)? Second, does the salt water concentration of the water affect the speed of the current? Another area of research that should be explored is the efficiency of different propeller shapes. Throughout the last decade, there has also been a rapid development of new technologies that capture energy from tides. This revolutionary idea is being compared to ocean current turbines to see which source of energy should be invested in. Although generating energy from ocean currents may be more economical, capturing tidal energy may prove to have less of an effect on the environment.
