PROTECTION

The black footed ferret protects itself in many ways.  First, the black-footed ferret has a long skinny body which allows it to go into small spaces to escape predators.  Second, its teeth are very sharp for killing and eating prey and it will fiercely fight any predator.  Third, ferrets are good climbers and swimmers, which helps them escape from predators.  Black-footed ferrets can also defend themselves with their sharp claws.  Black footed ferrets will also run to a safe place like a burrow where they can put up a defense. Finally, they are nocturnal and spend most of their time in burrows away from most predators.  Their homes in burrows also shelter them from weather that is very cold or very hot.
