Hypothesis

Since flax has the highest tensile strength of all the fibres we are testing, then flax fibre-reinforced cellulose acetate will have the highest tensile strength of all the samples. For flexural strength, we hypothesize that flax, hemp, and hair would have the highest strengths because they are the least brittle reinforcement materials out of all those tested. We hypothesize that the pomelo sample would have the lowest tensile as well as flexural strengths because the size of its reinforcement fibres is smaller than the other materials'. Since we are using the same matrix material for all the different fibres, most of the properties of the composites would depend on the fibre reinforcement.
