Conclusion
- Through several analyses performed in the lab, elements found in corncob ash were: K, Ca, P, Mg, Na, Fe, S.
We also discovered that corncob ash contains anions such as: CO32-,
HCO3-, Cl-, NO3-, SO42-.
- The quantity of CO32-
is the important factor that affects the pH of the ash filtrate and indicates
that ash filtrate is a basic solution. The concentration of CO32-
in ash filtrate found to be approximately 0.061M.
- By comparison, corncob ash has a greater fire retardant potential than the commercial fire extinguisher.

Practical application
- The practical application for this project would be to make corncob ash filtrate for commercial food tenderizing purpose as the filtrate solution is self-preserving. Since we know the concentrations of ions and the presences of elements, we can control the amount of solid ash to filter the ash filtrate.
- For fire retardant purpose, the ash filtrate could be used to pre-treat the wood before it's used for building.
