· Two 2-inch deep cake pans · Black aluminum foil lids for cake pans · Four small fold-back clips to keep lids on pans · Water · Beaker for measuring · Watch · Commercial waterproof digital thermometer · Standard solar oven · Magnified solar oven

1. Place the solar ovens on a concrete surface that is away from shadows. facing west. Make sure they are 12 inches apart. 2. Fill the magnification water lens bag with 1680 ml. of water that is 17.0 degrees Celsius. Close the vapor barrier so that there is no air between the water and the barrier. Tape it in place. Set it aside. 3. Fill Two black 8 inch ( 2 inch deep) cake pans with 640 ml. of water each. 4. Take temperature of the water in each pan and record. 5. Take temperature of the water in the magnifying lens and record. 6. Put aluminum foil and construction paper lids on pots ( trace the top of the pan on some black construction paper which has been glued to some aluminum foil. Let dry and then cut out the circle for a lid.) 7. Place pans of water in solar ovens. 8. Put magnification instrument on one solar oven. 9. Open the reflector lids and attach with coat-hanger props. 10. Observe the weather and air temperature and record it. 11. Leave the solar ovens for one and a half hours. Be sure no one, or nothing is in front of the solar ovens. 12. When the time is up, quickly close the reflector lids and take a thermometer and put it in each of the pots with water in them. Record the temperature. 13. Take the thermometer and put it in the water in the magnifying lens. Record the temperature.
