Future

Now that the experiment has been finished there are things that can be done to further improve the effectiveness of the bio-digester. Several tests can be done to determine what conditions will optimize the production of biogas. One test could be finding an ideal temperature for the digester. By building several digesters you could test different temperatures and see how it is affected. Doing this you would be able to determine what temperature is to hot and to cold and which temperature is best for optimal production.

Some other things would be testing the ratio of water to manure. You could test if more water to manure is effective, more manure to water or equal amounts of both. Another test you could do is testing what waste is best for the production of biogas. For example you compare manure to types of organic waste from your house such as what you would find in the kitchen garbage. One more test you could do is compare a below ground digester vs. an above ground digester and an ideal pH level for the digester. Each of these tests will help determine ideal conditions for a bio-digester.

Also, research into a methane fuel cell can be done to see if a methane fuel cell would be a practical and effective idea in the near future.
