Conclusions

My goals for this project were to calculate the mass of the electron by measuring the Compton scattering effect at various angles, and to subsequently perform statistical analysis in order to calculate a more appropriate mass with a corresponding error estimate. After statistical analysis, I calculated the mass of the electron to be 509.22 -- KeV, which is also equal to 9.0793926 -- -- kilograms. This final value is in excellent agreement with the electron’s currently accepted mass of 511 KeV (9.11113 --kilograms), and it proves my hypothesis that the Compton scattering method is precise enough to measure the mass of an electron.
