Applications
The results from this experimentation proved to be helpful in determining that the four senses were effective in assisting and treating the agitated behaviors of Alzheimer’s patients. Based upon the results from the Alzheimer’s Awareness survey, it was determined that much work needs to be done to educate people about the disease.
Important discoveries and applications that came to be conceived as a result of this project include the following:
i) “It’s a Small World After All” is an effective and useful tool to assist agitated Alzheimer’s patients.
ii) Health care professionals and organizations need to educate the public on Alzheimer’s Disease.
iii) Senses such as touch and smell may in the future lead to newer and more innovative ways to communicate with Alzheimer’s patients.
To further understand the full effects of these findings, it would be worth while to test more patients and perhaps include the other sense, taste. Performing statistical analyses with a larger sample size would be useful to determine the specific trends that were determined by the results of the experimentation.
In the near future, the four senses and the storybook, “It’s a Small World After All” may be implemented as psychological therapies to help Alzheimer’s patients.
