By-Product
- Sincethere is useful by-product, there will be more advantages. Butanol is one of
the by-products. There is also can be used as biobutanol. Butanol, acetic acid,
butyric acid are the by-product.[xi]
Butanol fuel can be used as a fuel of internal
combustion engine that is an engine in which the combustion, or rapid
oxidation, or gas and air occurs in a confined space called a combustion
chamber. This process is called exothermic reaction.
- Moreover, the butyric
acid has higher rate of formation.[xii]
This butyric acid can be the preparation of butyrate esters which can be
fermented into butanol. Moreover, Clostridium acetobutylicum is the most prominent acetone and butanol producer. The general equation
of fermentation of butyric acid is C6H12O6 ¡æ C4H8O2 + 2CO2 + 2H2. After
the pH drops below 5, the bacteria switch into butanol and acetone production
in order to keep the pH higher.[xiii]
One molecule of acetone formed for each two molecule of butanol. In order to
produce those two products, Acetoacetyl CoA should be formed first and then it
goes to either acetoacetate that finally makes acetone or butyryl CoA and then
butyraldehyde that finally makes butanol.
- Furthermore, the acetate has higher rate of production.[xiv]
The acetate can be used as film base in photography, component in some
adhesives and synthetic fiber.[xv]
