Purpose
The purpose of this project is to determine whether Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid (NDGA) causes excessive cytotoxicity (liver cell death) to liver cells and whether this toxicity is dependent on the dosage of NDGA. If NDGA is found to cause cytotoxicity to liver cells further experimentation will be done to figure out the exact mechanism by which this damage occurs. The reason for this knowledge is that NDGA has numerous medical benefits including treatment for diabetes and ailments involving the digestive tract this needs to be confirmed to see if it is usable as a medicinal herb or if it is unfit for commercialization.
