Procedure 1:
1. First took the beaker and stirrer and filled it with 60 ml of water
2. Then took Hcl and poured 5 ml of the substance into the water. After the first experiment try adding 10ml, then 15ml and last of all 20 ml of Hcl
3. Repeat the step above for vinegar and hydrochloric acid
4. Poured the acid into the beaker containing the water and stirred well.
5. After having stirred well, pour the water with the acid into the Hoffman apparatus. (ENSURE THAT THE SOLAR PANEL IS NOT YET CONNECTED TO THE HOFFMAN APPARATUS)
Procedure 2:
1. Before commenced the next phase of the experiment, ensured that all connections are secured and that the solar panel had been placed on a flat surface.
2. Once the water has been poured into the Hoffman apparatus, connect the solar panel to the apparatus and observe.
3. Take down observations on charts and fill in the appropriate one according to the type of acid used.
4. For the tables that ask for the rate of gas production, fill in the volume, time and finally the rate.
5. To measure the amount of electricity produced, use a multi meter and record the observations.
6. To record Revolutions Per Minute, count how many times the wheels move in a circle for one minute.
7. Repeat the steps in procedure 1 and 2, using different acids and amounts of acids and record the information.
8. The Hoffman apparatus should produce the two gasses that are necessary for the fuel cell to function and power the motor.
Procedure
3:
1. After completing procedure 1 and 2 repeated them once again, except this time using the 3 other acids listed. (One at a time)
2. After completing step one redo the whole experiment using a battery eliminator instead of a solar panel. Observe results.
3. After step 2, once again repeat the experiment except for this time use the solar power inside with the different types of light to power it. Observe Results
