Purpose:

The purpose of my experiment is to determine a cleaner and more efficient way of producing hydrogen and oxygen for use in the hydrogen fuel cell, through the process of electrolysis. This will be accomplished by electrolyzing water, using solar power, to produce the two gases, needed to power a hydrogen fuel cell to create electricity.

Hypothesis:

  I believe that when water is electrolyzed using a solar panel to create hydrogen and oxygen it will be a cheaper and more efficient way of powering a hydrogen fuel cell than the conventional method of electrolyzing water that is using electricity from other sources. This would occur because when water is electrolyzed it is separated into two compounds, hydrogen and oxygen. This is a cheaper method because I am using a solar panel as my electrical source to electrolyze water rather than using conventional electricity. This way, the electricity source is basically free and continuous as long as there is sun.
