Notably, there are three excellent designs that have been researched thoroughly through the years, that are promising, efficient and safe. The first of which, the CANDU reactor, has been in use for many years with excellent efficiency and an outstanding safety record. The next is more of an experimental, small reactor, the Pebble Bed Reactor, which has been put into use in China, and has a very promising future with it’s many benefits in safety, meltdown proof design, and high efficiency. The third comprises designs for the future, that a global group have been researching. These designs will be effective, safe plants with numerous fall back features incase of accidents, and revolutionary passive safety mechanisms. This is the future of nuclear energy.
