1.     Gather all the required materials.

2.     Decide, with your partner, which measurements will be used for the experiment.

3.     Use a piece of string to measure each part of the Barbie as decided in step 2.  For each measurement, wrap the string around the body part and mark where the string overlaps.  Then, lay the string flat on a ruler to determine the length.

4.     Measure again for accuracy.

5.     Create a table, in a spreadsheet on a computer, listing all Barbie’s measurements.  Determine the scale factor of a female’s height compared to the height of the Barbie.  Use this scale factor for all Barbie’s measurements to determine the measurements of the female with that height.

6.     Repeat the process using different heights.  We used 150 cm to 178 cm.

7.     Use a measuring tape to find the measurements of female volunteers and compare them to the chart to determine if any female “measures up”.
