Prime Time

What is a prime number?

By definition, a prime number is any natural number that can only be divided by one and itself. This means that it is possible to get this number only by multiplying two numbers together, one of which is one, and the other being the number itself. One is not a prime number, because it has only one factor. All prime numbers are odd, except for two, which is the only even prime number. All other primes end in either one, three, seven or nine. Negative numbers cannot be prime, because by definition a prime is a natural number, which means it must be a positive whole number. There is an infinite number of primes.

My project is all about prime numbers. I will investigate the history of prime numbers, as well as the types, patterns, and uses of prime numbers.
The software tools used for this project were Dreamweaver, WS FTP and Java.
I got the idea for this project sitting in math class. We touched on prime numbers, but I wanted to learn more about them, so I decided to do my science fair project on them.
