The researcher investigated the relationship between the position of a load within a backpack to the force required to support and stabilize the load back to its neutral position. The project was conducted because the researcher wanted to know where to position a load in a conventional backpack in order to minimize the required counterbalancing force. It was hoped that this would reduce the stress on her back when using a backpack and thereby add to the knowledge base of designing new backpacks. |
