Experiment 1: Data Collection and Analysis

The measured forces are presented in tables that are spatially interpretive as well as colour coded to match the colour codes on the grid.

T L

T C

T B

 T   = Top of Backpack >>> closest to "shoulder joint"

MT L

MT C

MT R

MT = Middle Top of Backpack

MB L

MB C

MB = Middle Bottom of Backpack

B L

 B   = Bottom of Backpack >>> furthest from "shoulder" joint

L = Left on Grid >>> closest to "spine"

C = Central on Grid

R = Right on Grid >>> furthest from spine

Data are presented for each load tested.  For each load, two different analysis are performed.  One presented data that normalized the measured forces at the different locations to the force measured at the BL position In all cases, this was the least force measured.  The other analysis normalized the forces to the load being tested.

Normalizing the forces made it easier to compare forces under different loads and at different positions to facilitate the observations of any trends.
