> Observations Before I started my experiment, I thought that maybe the center of the hurricane was the strongest. Then when I thought about it (when I was forming a hypothesis) I realized that the winds circulate around the center. First, when I dipped the paper-clip in the center, or 'The Eye' of the 'hurricane', it didn’t spin at all. After that, I repeated the experiment 4 more times, dipping the paper-clip in a different place each time. When I put it very close to the center, it would just get sucked into the center. When I did it at the very back, it spun quite fast. I did it again, a bit closer to the center, and it was still the same speed. Then I did it about ½ of an inch away from the edge, and that’s where it spun the very fastest. This area would be 'The Eye Wall'. I think this is because if you go too far away from the center, it will begin to weaken. The Eye Wall is the area surrounding The Eye, and that’s where the winds move the fastest. For more on that you can read my report on hurricanes.
Below are pictures of the experiment in progress. Put your mouse over the picture for a brief description. Please note that you will have to keep your mouse over the picture for a second or two until the description comes.
As you can see, the paper clip is in the center, and is not moving.
When the paper clip is towards the edge of the bowl, it spins the fastest.
