Figure 7: Staining of the seed coat with DMACA reagent. The upper panel shows the original color of the seed coat from the 16 faba bean lines as listed in table 1. The lower panel shows the same seed coat after staining with DMACA reagent. The black color indicates the presence of condensed tannins. 14 out of 16 lines contained condensed tannins; only FB6F3-3-1 (4) and Snowbird (12) indicated zero-tannins in their seed coat.
