HYPOTHESIS

1. It will be possible to design and build an earthquake machine that will test the stability of different buildings.

2. Some structural modifications may make buildings more stable:

a) Overlapping the blocks will make a structure more stable.

b) Building height will affect the building stability. The higher the building, the less stable it will be.

c)  Reinforcing the structure with buttresses will make it more stable:  the more buttresses, the better.  Angling the buttresses will make the building even more stable.

d) Making a model of a base isolator will be difficult.

e) A roof  will make a structure more earthquake resistant.

f) Cross braces will help the structure stay up in an earthquake.

3. It will not be possible to design a building that will be able to withstand the earthquake machine but it might be possible to make it more stable.
