Applications:
- The results of this study could be used to produce plants that are tolerant
to salt stress by genetically modifying the expression of the key phytohormones
involved in salt stress tolerance.
- Would enable the production of plants that are more sustainable in
arid and saline parts of the world, which would enable the cultivation
of more than one thirds of the worldĄŻs limited arable land.
- Would be very economically beneficiary.
- Would be provide food for a larger number of people, thus avoiding
starvation in third world nations, especially since a lot of drought
conditions are experienced by people living in third world nations.
- This experiment can be used to determine the effect of de-icing salts
on plant growth.
- When road salts are added, the excess salt affects plants in the sidewalks.
The damage can vary from complete branch dieback, browning of the needles
or foliage, to lack of flowering, and tufting. Grass in the sidewalk
can completely die due to excess salts.
- This study will enable one to find a better salt that is more economical
as well more environment friendly.
- Also the finding that there may be an optimum condition for plant
growth can be used to determine a more suitable level of salt use in
roads during winter.
