No significant transformation frequency difference was found between the cells with and without the buffer. Out of a similar number of cells plated, the average number of transformants from samples with and without buffer were ranked, respectively, 13 and 13.25, with a rank of 16 having the most CFU per plate and 1 having the least CFU per plate (see Table 6 and the Third Experiment Discussion for details of the ranking system used). The buffer therefore only significantly influences transformation frequency through pH. Experimental transformation frequencies are a result of manipulated pH or other errors.
