A summary of my project:
The world is in trouble! A North American’s average Ecological Footprint is from 4.3-5.1 hectares of garbage. Based on the biologically productive area that exists on our planet, only 1.7 hectares per capita is available for human use. If the world follwed the North American lifestyle, we will need atleast three earths to sustain our needs. We should start somewhere. Well we have Pollution Prevention which is a path to sustainbility. According to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) Pollution Prevention is the uses of processes, practices, materials, products or energy that avoid or minimize the creation of pollutants and wastes , and reduce the overall risk to the environment and human health. Why am
I talking about Pollution Prevention at School? Well a large number of people are at school, a large number of activities are taken place at school each day, and a large quantity of wastes is produced at school each day, so schools are a great place to introduce pollution prevention ideas.
