Conclusions
After all the tests were complete and the
results were analyzed, the following conclusions were made:
- My
hypothesis was correct. Oil in warm tropical waters
spreads more rapidly and further than in cold arctic
waters.
- Winds
did spread the oil further and faster. However, the water
temperature did not make a difference.
- Oil
spreads more quickly to a larger area in tropical waters,
than in cold waters.
- Winds
did spread the oil more widely, but the water temperature
did not make a difference.
- Oil
disperses into more blobs in colder water, than in warm
water. In the tropical water oil quickly thins into fewer
and larger, translucent blobs.
- Winds
break up the oil to create more blobs at all temperatures.
