Our problem is to see which length of launching arm can launch a softball the farthest. We thought the longer board would launch the ball farther because it would bend more and give it more whip. Our prediction was right. We thought that the longer board would go the farthest and on average it did go the farthest. We used the same ball every time because if we used different ball it could have been shaped different and could have flown different in the air. We also used the same weight every time. The wind speed could have affected it, so we got all our results on the same day. The angle of the pocket on the end could have affected it, but we did not take off the pocket to change the angle. In our experiment we had lots of trial and error because we tried all these different types of pockets but none of them would work. To revise our experiment and make it better we could have taken more time to make a sling instead of a coffee can because you could get more whip and the ball would go farther. Also we could have launched something that was heavier. Our experiment doesn’t really apply to the real world.
