CCD:Heart of the Digital Camera
Abstract
The CCD (charge coupled device) chip is one of the most important inventions of our time. It is the heart of the digital camera and allowed it to be made. It is in almost every digital camera and it is used in space telescopes to capture images. This small silicon chip the size of a thumb has changed the world of photography forever. The invention took place after a lunch break in half an hour by Willard S. Boyle and is now being used all the time.
