Our project is on natural poisons, how they’re made, why they’re used and how they harm us. Quite a few animals carry venom (not poison) for various reasons such as a defense mechanism like some species of caterpillars or as an attack purpose like a rattlesnake. In some cases an animal uses its venom for both purposes, like the spider. There are also plants that carry poisons as a defense mechanism.

Venomous and poisonous are 2 terms that are normally confusing. Venomous means that an animal injects the venom into its target but poisonous means when something is harmful only when touched or consumed.
