Independent Variable: Our independent variable in this experiment is the degree that we set the slope (penstock).

Dependent Variable: Our dependent variable is the amount of electricity that is produced.

Controlled Variables: Some controlled variables are:

  • Use all the same materials
  • The right amount of water in the rubber-made so it is not touching the turbine
  • Same person connecting the generator wire to the ohms-meter and the same person reading the ohms-meter
  • Same person holding the hose at the top of the water runway so there are no kinks in the hose
  • Ensure that the valve to control the water flow is always open the same amount
  • Try to keep the generator as dry as possible.
