Did you know that Mercedes Benz began in the 1800's? Let me tell you about it and the creators of it. Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz were born in Germany. They created the most successful car company, in my opinion, Mercedes Benz. Carl Benz was born on November 25, 1844. Mr. Daimler was born on March 17, 1834. When they were born, they were only 60 miles apart from each other which is a real coincidence. Karl Benz constructed a motorized tricycle in 1886. In 1893, his first four-wheeler was built called the Victoria. In 1894 the first production car was made by Karl. It was called the Benz Velo. This is what it looks like:

It was used in races such as the Paris-Rouen race. Benz built his first truck in 1985. Gottelieb Daimler built a horseless carriage. Daimler made a business deal with William Steinway to produce Daimler’s products in the US. Steinway produced passenger cars, engines, and Daimler’s light trucks on Long Island. By November 22, 1886 Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, (Daimler’s company in other words DMG), produced a car for Emil Jellinek, was the Consul General of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. They hadn’t named the car yet so Emil named it after her ten year old daughter Mercedes. This Mercedes edition wasn’t as great as the cars today but it was a good start for the company. It had 35 hp and the top speed was 55 miles per hour. In 1930 Mercedes-Benz launched their most prestigious car called the 770 Grosser which was powered by an 8 cylinder, 7.6 liter engine. This car was for the wealthiest people in the world. This extravagant car was manufactured for the people

In the 1930’s Mercedes-Benz had great success in racing. The W125 (200 miles per hour speed) won seven out of thirteen dreadful races. It was followed by the W154. Later Mercedes-Benz built small V8 racers so it could win the Tripoli GP. Luckily it won the race.
