Purpose
The purpose of this project was to see how sodium chloride (NaCl),
one of the most common types of salt, affected the germination, vegetative
growth, and flowering of Brassica napus cv. Westar and its four
transgenic versions. I also wanted to see if the transgenic lines would grow and
germinate better than their parent line under salt stressed conditions.
Hypothesis
There were two main hypotheses for this project.
Hypothesis
1: Canola growth and germination will be
inhibited by high concentrations of NaCl.
Hypothesis
2: The transgenic lines will grow and
germinate better than the wild-type (Westar)
plants under salt stressed conditions.
