Conclusion

Purpose: Reaction to different toys

The object of this test was to see how she reacted to different objects that we place in the box

Result: She was quite interested in most of them (atleast more than the dog)

Toy 1: Stuffed bug
First she circled the bug. Next she made several attempts to escape. After a few attempts she hoisted herself over the wall but we caught her before she fell.
Devindra’s comment:
I think she just wanted to escape.
Francis’s comment:
I agree

Toy 2: Slinky toy
She climbed over the slinky and tried to push off the roof and then spent the rest of the one minute running around.
Devindra’s comment:
After her escape we decided to put bars on top of the box so we used part of a cage to block the top.
Francis’s comment:
She didn't seem that interested in the slinky.

Toy 3: Basket
She spent the whole time rolling in the basket.
Devindra’s comment:
She probably thought it was her spinning thing you know that thing that hamsters run on the wheel thing.
Francis’s comment:
I think she liked it because she could climb inside
Toy 4: Wooden car
Sniffs car, she decided it wasn't interesting so she moved into the corner to ignore it. Escape attempt. Back to car. Escape attempt.
Devindra’s comment:
She never realized escape attempts are futile.
Francis’s comment:
She doesn't have that great a memory.

Toy 5: Bouncy ball
First she sniffed the ground, after that she decided to start grooming. Once she had decided no one would rescue her she made an escape attempt. Then she decided she was hungry and so tried to eat the bouncy ball.
Devindra’s comment:
Francis said that when she grooms it means she's distressed.
Francis’s comment:
Yes she does groom when she is distressed. She likes to eat anything she can get her mouth around.
