There's
many reasons why people buy and use amphibious cars. First of all there are
some movies like "James Bond" use amphibious cars in their movie. The main
goal for amphibious car companies is that in the future everyone will have
an amphibious car as their main vehicle. At the moment amphibious vehicles
are not in mass production, are not available to drive in Canada yet and are
very expensive to buy, some are even $500,000.00. Presently the fastest
amphibious car around is the WATERCAR, it can go up to 200 km/h on land and
75 km/h on water, compared to original Amphicar that went 115 km/h on land
and 11 km/h on water the new age amphibious cars are extremely fast.

Ride the Ducks amphibious tour |
Not all amphibious cars are made by companies, some people have made their own amphibious vehicles out of regular cars. One person even made an amphibious yacht out of a normal bus. Also amphibious vehicles are used for tourist attractions like "Ride the Ducks". "Ride the Ducks" is a tour based in the U.S.A. that is an amphibious tour that spends about 1 hour on land and about 30 min. in the water. "Ride the Ducks" tours can be seen across the U.S. and a couple in Canada, for example: Seattle, U.S.A.; Philadelphia, U.S.A. and Ottawa, Canada. |
