Aren't the Vancouver Island marmots adorable? Yes! These adorable furry creatures have a problem; they are Canada's most endangered mammals!

If you don't know what a Vancouver Island marmot is, don't stop reading. I'll tell you. A marmot is a mammal from the squirrel family. It is about a house cat's size. They live in meadows on mountains. Their home is in a burrow, which they dig.

These lovable creatures are getting threatened by logging. Clear-cut logging reached up near where marmots live, altering their habitat. Female marmots are not reproducing as much when they moved to these clear-cut areas.

They are losing more and more marmots. There are less than 100 left on Vancouver Island! This endangered problem is big!
