Fingerprints

Fingerprints get left behind because of skin patterns that skin oils leave behind.  Police use fingerprints to find out what happened at a crime scene.  All fingerprints are different and people can be identified by their fingerprints.

These are the steps on finding fingerprints on every day things.  You could do this with flour as fingerprinting powder, a make-up brush as the duster, and scotch tape as the sticky paper.  You could put it on a piece of paper for display and voila, a fingerprint!


Studying Fingerprints Using a Computer



These students are studying fingerprints from fathers and their sons.  They discovered that children's fingerprints disappear faster than adult's fingerprints.   They were also trying to see if they could get DNA from fingerprints.
