Welcome to the 2003 Virtual Science Fair! I am a grade 9 student, currently attending Simon Fraser Junior High in Calgary, Alberta. My name is Iris Wong. We will be investigating objectives from the scientific, financial, and environmental concerns of the petroleum industry. By taking a close look at the petroleum industry, scientists and managers may some day improve the quality of life for society and make the petroleum industry even better.

   Calgary: the land of cows, friendly people, the Stampede, the Flames hockey team, the Davis Cup in Canadian tennis...and last but not least, petroleum. Calgary managing some of Canada's largest petroleum projects is one of the main reasons why I have chosen to research the petroleum industry. I have grown up being quite fascinated about and surrounded by the petroleum industry. Calgary has become one of the major petroleum economic centres of today. As an inhabitant of a city who is proud to share its fine petroleum to people around the world, I would like to examine some of the advancements and contributions of this industry. The bottom line is: how is the future of the petroleum industry going to be like?
