Based on the experiments conducted, I learned that:

Based on the information gathered on plant pigments, I learned that:

  • We find natural reflectors such as

    1. pigments found in plants, vegetables and fruits, making them look colorful.
    2. pigments found in animal skins, giving us colorful animal skins with variety of shades.
    3. water vapor in the atmosphere, giving us spectacular rainbow, when sunlight passes through it.
  • Plant pigment "Chlorophyll" makes plant leaves look green.

  • Plant pigment "Carotenoid" makes fruits and vegetables look orange, yellow, red.

  • Plant pigment "Phycobilin" makes plants look bluish green or red. They are also used in Cancer research as they show property of fluorescence.

  • We can use spectrophotometer to determine the fading away of colors in an art exhibit. A spectrophotometer is an instrument used to determine the colors of light a pigment absorbs and transmits.
