In trial two, I discovered that it is more than the salt in potash tailings which is harming the plants, and that even very minuscule amounts of tailings came have hazardous effects on plants. The light group barley plants germinated 2 days later than the control group, and the light group flax plants germinated 2 days later than the control group. It had about the same number of barley plants, but extremely less flax plants. The control group had 36 flax plants, and the light group had only 8. The light group plants were significantly smaller than the control group plants, and were much browner looking in appearance. The heavy potash barley plants had 6 days in delayed germination compared to the control group, and had no flax plants. The heavy potash plants were smaller and fewer compared to the control group. The heavy potash group had 2 times fewer plants than the heavy salt group, and the plants were small in comparison. The heavy salt group barley plants germinated 4 days later than the control group barley plants, and the heavy salt flax plants germinated 8 days late in comparison to the control group. There were very few flax plants in the heavy salt group, and less barley plants than the control group. |
