Hello, and welcome to my website, Light and Colours. My name is Andy King, and I have created this site for my Virtual Science Fair project. I hope that this site will teach you a lot about light and colours, even if you have or have not learned about it yet. Light is a fascinating subject to learn, it gives life and without it, life on earth would not be possible. This site will teach you many things about light, from how light is created, the behaviours of light, and why we see colour. Light and Colours also teach you about the electromagnetic spectrum. The electromagnetic spectrum is a arrangement of invisible waves, like microwaves, and visible waves like light. Basically, the electromagnetic spectrum is light and beyond. Lastly, I have done a simple but impossible experiment to show you how fast light goes, and the possibility of breaking the speed of light. I hope you enjoy looking at Light and Colours.
Fibre optics like these the ones here use light to glow
Navigating through this site is very easy and simple. There are two ways to move around this site. There is a menu at the top of the site and to the left of the page. These two menus are basically the same, expect the menu at the left is faster and contains sub-categories. If you are new to this site, I suggest using the more dynamic menu at the top. However, if you have already been to this site and want to go a sub-category quickly, be sure to use the menu at the left. However, it does not matter which menu you chose to use, you will always end up at the same place. The website is divided into categories, starting at ’Introduction to Light’, which is labelled roman numeral ’I’. The purpose of this is to make navigation quicker and easier. If you want to go to the home page, then click at the tiny house icon at the top or click the box with the words “home” in the menu to the left. If you want to go to the official virtual science fair website, then click at the box at the bottom of the left menu. This site is built and designed for 800X600 resolution computers with Internet 6+, Opera, or Netscape. Light and Colours cannot be viewed with Macs, however, because Macs cannot read .bmp files. Light and colours uses many .bmp files, so if you are using a mac, please view the site using a pc.
I have made this site as user-friendly as it can be. The content on this site is fairly easy to understand, I have not used any quantum-style theories on my site to confuse people. However, my experiment could be a little difficult to understand, but if you read carefully you should understand it.
So, get ready and explore the world of light and colours. Enter the first section, Introduction to Light from either the menu at the top or the menu on the side. Let’s begin our journey to the fascinating world of light!
* Note, to visit the Project Info page, please use the menu to the left. Point the cursor at [7] About This Site, and the sub-catigories will pop out. The Projects Info page is in there.
